Bookkeeping works best when it supports everyday decisions—not when it is treated as a once-a-year compliance exercise.

Review transactions every week

A short weekly review keeps bank activity, invoices and receipts connected while the details are still fresh. It also helps you notice unusual charges or missing payments quickly.

Send invoices promptly

Cash flow often improves when invoicing becomes part of the delivery process rather than an end-of-month task. Use clear payment terms and follow up consistently.

Keep evidence with the transaction

Store receipts and supplier invoices alongside the matching payment. Digital records are easier to search, share and back up than paper folders.

Reconcile, do not assume

Your bookkeeping balance should agree with the bank. Regular reconciliation catches duplicates, omissions and timing differences before they become a larger problem.

Look at the numbers

Review income, costs, amounts owed and cash available. The purpose of accurate books is not just a correct return—it is a clearer view of your business.
